Diet Number Two. Ketogenic Diet. (Keto)
The next diet on my list to try is the Ketogenic Diet. Like every diet out there, there is an easy way to explain it and a hard way, I'll always be sticking to the easy way.
Basically, on a normal diet of high carbs, high protein and low fats, the body uses the carbs for energy.
On the keto diet you eat a very low amount carbs, medium to low protein and a lot of fat. (But good fats, not McDonald's and KFC)
After 3 to 10 days of eating like this, the body realises it can't burn fuel from carbs any more and goes into ketosis which means the body has switched and is now using fats for energy.
(Some people can get into ketosis in one day, it all depends on your genetic make-up)
There's a hell of a lot more to it than that but it's basically the gist.
Some people go through a stage called the 'keto flu' in which you get flu-like symptoms when your body changes to burning fats. I hope this doesn't happen to me but life isn't always that kind. I'm sure I'll be able to handle it. Wish me luck.
